
Govt. college student ranks 5th in science stream in II PUC exams

N. Shreevidya, a top student from Government Pre-University College, secures fifth rank in State exams with 595 marks.
N. Shreevidya, a student of Government Pre-University College at Kaniyuru village in Puttur taluk of Dakshina Kannada secured 595 marks in science stream thus sharing fifth rank among others in the State in this year’s second year Pre-University examinations.
She is the lone student from a government college among 24 students who shared fifth rank in the State.
Ms. Shreevidya, a studious student, finished her primary schooling in the Government Higher Primary School in Kaniyuru before joining the Government High school in the same village. By scoring 616 marks, Ms. Shreevidya was ranked second among government school students in the Class 10 (SSLC) examination in the district.
She is the daughter of A.K. Narayana Bhat, a head master of an English medium school in Puttur and Shailashree, a home maker. Like her elder sister, she wants to study B.Sc in St. Philomena College in Puttur. She aspires to serve people by entering civil services.
K. Jayanthi, principal of Government PU College, Kaniyur, said, “More than our support, it is her hard work that has paid dividend.” The college recorded 100% result in science stream, 96% in commerce and 89% in arts stream, she said. T
