The Central government has directed that 10 lakh people be given government jobs in the next 18 months. Which department has the maximum vacancy? Take a look.
Unemployment, a bane for Indians, has been rising year on year and now the Central government has decided to take it head on.
As per government data, various ministries combined had 8.7 lakh vacancies as of March 1, 2020.
The figure 8.7 lakh vacancies came to the forefront when the government earlier this year told the Parliament about vacant posts in central government departments.
Now to tackle the massive issue at hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 14 directed that 10 lakh people be given jobs in the central government in the next 18 months.
This news, while on one hand, brings cheer to the job-starved nation, it may carry significant financial implications for the government.
Prime Minister’s Office had tweeted,"PM reviewed the status of human resources in all departments and ministries and instructed that recruitment of 10 lakh people be done by the government in mission mode in next 1.5 years."
