When we talk about the most successful Indian actors in the comedy genre, there is but one name that comes to mind - Govinda. He started off as an action hero in the 80s but reinvented himself as a comedy actor in the 90s, giving us films like Aankhen, Raja Babu, Coolie No 1, Hero No 1, Deewana Mastana, Dulhe Raja, Anari No 1, Jodi No 1, and more. However, after a while, his roles became monotonous, and his movies started failing at the box office. Filmmakers those days played safe and resorted to the tried-and-tested formula when making films - the same storyline with different packaging. The chances of losing money, in this case, was minimal and the audience those days enjoyed what was being offered to them. However, Govinda’s Hadh Kar Di Aapne is one example where the director applied the tried-and-tested formula, but it backfired. Directed by Manoj Agarwal, the filmmaker turned to David Dhawan for inspiration and the final product was humourless, no-brainer and offensive.
