GOP senators strongly oppose the bipartisan border bill, citing concerns about its efficacy and the potential for Secretary Mayorkas to grant asylum without immigration court review.
The legislation will need a 60-vote threshold to pass, and Republican lawmakers urged leaders to give them more time to offer amendments.
