According to Google, Anne, a Jewish Dutch-German, only wrote the diary between the ages of 13-15. It contains her personal account of the Holocaust and events of the war, which remains one of the most poignant and widely-read accounts to date. Today marks the 75th anniversary of the publication of her diary, which is widely considered one of the most essential books in modern history.
The Google doodle was designed by art director Thoka Maer. "It was immediately clear how big of a task this was going to be and I felt a huge sense of responsibility," she said when asked about her thoughts on working on the doodle.
