Google Doodle has paid a tribute to celebrate Iraqi artist Naziha Salim.
Google Doodle has paid a wonderful tribute to one of Iraq’s most influential artists, Naziha Salim. She was known for depicting rural life and women through art with vivid color and bold brush strokes. Salim was recognized by the Barjeel Art Foundation today in 2020 for their collection of brilliant female artists.
The doodle shared by Google shows a glimpse of Salim’s style of painting. “Today’s #GoogleDoodle celebrates the artist Naziha Salim. The painter dipped her brush into Iraqi culture and spread it across world canvases,” read the caption of the Twitter post shared by Google.

Salim was born in Turkey to a family of artists. Her brother Jawad is one of the most influencial sculptors of Iraq as well. Salim enrolled at the Baghdad Fine Arts Institute to study art. She was also the first woman to get a scholarship to study in Paris at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts.
