Google Doodle has released a colourful artwork to wish the people of India on the 73rd Republic Day. Observed every year on January 26, Republic Day is an important event in the history of Independent India. It commemorates the enactment of the constitution of India which came into effect on January 26, 1950, and made the nation into a republic. The main attraction of the day is the Republic Day parade which begins at Rajpath, Delhi, and ends at India Gate.
Today’s Google Doodle shows different elements of the parade, including animals, instruments and even the tricolour of the national flag. Animals like an elephant, a horse, a dog, a camel have been incorporated with the letters of the word Google. Apart from that, a red table, the parade path, a saxophone and doves can be seen in the doodle.
“The parade is broadcast live to millions across India who tune in to enjoy the carefully choreographed spectacle and reflect on over 70 years of freedom. Across the South Asian subcontinent, Republic Day is celebrated over a three-day period with cultural events that honour the resilience, history, and diverse social fabric of the world’s most populous democracy. The Indian Constitution was adopted on November 26, 1949 and officially enacted on this day in 1950 to coincide with the day the Indian National Congress declared Purna Swaraj or ‘complete freedom.’,” read the Google Doodle blog.
