Both gold and silver are trading on the lower side of the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) on Wednesday, February 23, 2022.
Witnessing a drop of Rs 141 or 0.28 per cent, gold futures maturing on April 5, 2022, are retailing at Rs 50,389 per 10 grams on the MCX.
Meanwhile, the rate of silver futures, maturing on March 4, 2022, stood at Rs 64,229 per kg, recording a drop of 0.20 per cent or Rs 129.
Notably, the prices of gold and silver stood at Rs 50,328 per 10 grams and Rs 64,345 per kg respectively when the market closed on February 22.
As per Reuters, gold was flat on Wednesday, nearing a nine-month high hit in the last session, as safe-haven demand was offset by a rise in Treasury yields following the first wave of U.S. and European sanctions on Russia for sending troops into eastern Ukraine.
As per the latest metal report, spot gold was little changed at $1,898.63 per ounce, after scaling its highest since June 1 at $1,913.89 per ounce on Tuesday. Meanwhile, U.S. gold futures shed 0.3 percent to $1,901.90.
In addition to this, spot silver was up 0.2 percent at $24.13 per ounce among other metals.
