Witnessing a hike of Rs 1,135 or 2.16 per cent, gold futures maturing on April 5, 2022, are retailing at Rs 54,010 per 10 grams on the MCX.
Meanwhile, the rate of silver futures, maturing on May 5, 2022, stands at Rs 71,251 per kg, recording a jump of 1.37 per cent or Rs 949.
Notably, the prices of gold and silver stood at Rs 52,559 per 10 grams and Rs 69,160 per kg respectively when the market closed on March 7.
As per Reuters, gold prices slid from the key $2,000-per-ounce mark on Tuesday, as the U.S. dollar held firm near a multi-month peak, while palladium eased from record highs after investors took a breather as Russia-Ukraine talks hardly advanced.
As per the latest metal report, spot gold was down 0.5 percent at $1,987.86 per ounce, after scaling a 1-1/2-year peak of $2,002.40 on Monday. Meanwhile, U.S. gold futures were down 0.2 percent at $1,992.90.
Among other metals, spot silver fell 0.7 percent to $25.47 per ounce.
