Gokulraj murder case: Yuvaraj, 9 others sentenced to life in prison

Yuvaraj, the prime accused in the Gokulraj murder case was sentenced to life imprisonment. Yuvaraj, the president of a caste outfit, was involved in the killing of a Dalit youth in 2015.
The Madurai Special Sessions Court on Tuesday sentenced the main accused, Yuvaraj, who is the founder of the Dheeran Chinnamalai Gounder Peravai, to life imprisonment in the Gokulraj murder case.
The prime accused, S Yuvaraj, has been given a life term on three counts. All 10 accused have been given life sentences till death without remission.
Gokulraj, a Dalit engineering student, went missing on June 23, 2015. He was last seen along with a woman friend at the Arthanareeswarar temple at Tiruchengode. Later, his headless body was found by the railway track in Tamil Nadu's Namakkal district.

The woman belonged to the dominant Gounder community. During the investigation, several people came forward with information indicating that S Yuvaraj, president of a Kongu Vellalar Gounder caste outfit, was the prime suspect in the case. Police registered a case against 16 people, including Yuvaraj, for 'honour killing' of a Dalit youth. A total of 10 accused were convicted by the sessions court on March 5.
The case was initially thought of as a suspicious death and was later changed to murder after the postmortem showed that the man was strangled to death.
