Giants’ Malik Nabers ‘still in same spot’ in concussion protocol
NY Post
Giants top receiver Malik Nabers is one more missed practice away from missing his second consecutive game with a concussion.
The team’s No. 1 draft pick and leading receiver, who missed last week’s game at Seattle because he was still in concussion protocol from the head injury he suffered late in the Week 4 loss to Dallas, again didn’t practice in full Thursday.
Giants head coach Brian Daboll said before Thursday’s practice that Nabers is “still in the same spot” in the protocol as he was Wednesday.
Daboll indicated that for Nabers to play Sunday nightagainst the Bengals, he would need to be on the field Friday practicing in a red non-contact jersey.
That likely would mean he’s in Phase 4 of the five-phase protocol.
Asked if Nabers isn’t cleared to practice Friday that would indicate he’ll be out for Sunday, Daboll said, “It would probably be hard.’’

The preferred path to follow remains in place: Select a quarterback with the No. 3 pick in the draft. That is what the Giants hope will happen. When it comes to identifying and securing a franchise-saving player, though, hope is not a good thing, maybe the worst of things — with apologies to Andy Dufresne.
