Several important documents turned into ashes on Monday after a massive fire broke out at the office of Naib tehsildar in Ghaziabad tehsil area. As soon as the news of the fire broke out, several fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames, which lasted for several hours.
Within no time, the fire engulfed the entire office and many important property papers were destroyed. However, no casualties have been reported and preliminary investigation reveals that a short circuit was reported to be the immediate cause.
Ghaziabad SDM Vinay Kumar Singh, senior police officers and fire tenders reached the Naib tehsildar office and after long hours of effort, the situation was brought under control and the fire was extinguished. The intensity of the fire was such that people living in the vicinity noticed black smoke emanating from the building. The presence of property documents in the office triggered the flames.
SDM told Hindustan, "Documents kept inside the office of Naib Tehsildar were destroyed in the fire. The forms received for the brief revision of the previous elections were kept inside."
Three fire tenders from several stations were deployed to douse the flames. The Naib tehsildar has been instructed to probe the incident and the exact reason behind the fire to ascertain the exact amount of property lost.
