Art gallery honoring child prodigy Clint with 30,000 paintings to be built in GCDA shopping complex, including library and exhibition space.
An art gallery in memory of Edmond Thomas Clint, the child prodigy who died in 1982 when he was six years old, after having drawn over 30,000 paintings, will be built on the first floor of the Greater Cochin Development Authority’s (GCDA) shopping complex at Kadavanthra here by June, the authority has informed.
The gallery that will be spread over 3,000 sq. ft. is expected to cost ₹58 lakh, and the work will begin in the coming week. Clint, who rose to global fame by winning innumerable painting contests, was born in 1976 to M.T. Joseph and Chinnamma. Following Joseph’s demise, the 30,000 paintings and the awards that Clint won are with Ms. Chinnamma. The gallery is meant to safely store and display the paintings and awards.
A library will also be readied on the premises as a tribute to Clint. There will be a dedicated space to display art works, GCDA sources said.
