No one was at the factory when the fire broke out, so no injuries were reported. Around 30 employees work at the unit during the day.
Passers-by saw the building engulfed in flames and alerted Fire and Emergency Services, who rushed to the spot and put out the blaze after three hours. Large volumes of highly combustible cloth in the factory made it difficult to control the fire, sources said.
An electric short circuit is suspected to have caused the accident. The unit belongs to Arun and Shivakumar, who have now been summoned by the police for further investigation.
