
Gangubai Kathiawadi box office collection Day 2: Alia Bhatt-starrer set for a fabulous weekend

Alia Bhatt-starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi is doing exceedingly well at the box office. The biographical crime drama is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Gangubai Kathiawadi has taken the box office by storm. Alia Bhatt’s impressive performance coupled with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s masterful direction ensured huge crowds in the theatres. The film opened to Rs 10.5 crore in India and is going in for a super strong weekend.
Gangubai Kathiawadi is a solid risk for both Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Alia Bhatt. It’s a risk that has paid off beautifully for both the director and his muse. The film had a brilliant opening at the box office and was successful in bringing the crowds back to the theatres. On Day 2 as well, its numbers were high.

Gangubai Kathiawadi is based on Hussain Zaidi’s book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai. In the film, Alia Bhatt plays a woman named Ganga who travels from Gujarat to Mumbai with her partner, but is sold off following a betrayal and ends up in a life of prostitution. She then becomes a madame named Gangubai in the red light area of Kamathipura and rises to power. She advocates for the rights of women and gets a stronghold in politics.
