Gangster poses inside UP Assembly with SP MLAs in massive security breach

Gangster Mahfoos Akhtar entered the UP Assembly today and clicked photos with three MLAs of the Samajwadi Party right next to the Well of the House.
Gangster Mehfoos Akhtar, the main accused in the murder of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Pintu Sengar, entered not just the Uttar Pradesh Assembly but also clicked photos with three Samajwadi Party MLAs from Kanpur - Irfan Solanki, Hassan Rumi and Amitabh Bajpai - right at the Well of the House.
The photos, which have been shared multiple times on social media, have raised serious questions around the security of the Assembly, the meeting point of several high-profile politicians, including the Chief Minister and his Cabinet.
The photo was shared by MLA Hassan Rumi on his Facebook Page. However, he subsequently deleted the post after facing massive backlash on the social networking site.
“Neither do I know anybody with a criminal background nor do I have any relations with him,” SP MLA Amitabh Bajpai told India Today TV. “Today anyone can click a photo with anyone. But if he is a gangster, he should be behind bars and the police must take action,” Bajpai added.

However, his colleague and MLA Irfan Solanki said meeting the gangster was “a mistake” and “a human error”. “He is from Kanpur and he came to congratulate me. That is when he clicked a picture with us,” Solanki told India Today TV, adding, “I have no idea how he reached inside the Assembly. He was a member of the party but I think he was suspended for his criminal act.”
In June 2020, Mehfoos Akhtar had allegedly fired several rounds at BSP leader Pintu Sengar in Kanpur’s Chakeri area. Sengar did not survive the attack. Akhtar was jailed and later granted bail by the High Court on the condition that he would not set foot in Kanpur until cleared of all charges.
