Gangasagar Mela 2022: Over 1,050 CCTVs, 20 drones to be deployed to monitor crowd movement

Over 1,050 CCTV cameras and twenty drones have been arranged for the Gangasagar Mela this year to monitor crowd movement. The authorities will also set up RT-PCR, isolation and quarantine centres for the safety of pilgrims.
In a bid to monitor the crowd movement and enhance the security of pilgrims, the authorities have planned to deploy almost 1,050 CCTV cameras and twenty drones at the Gangasagar Mela grounds this year. Gangasagar Mela, one of the most popular melas held in Sagardwip, West Bengal, will be held from January 8 to January 16, 2022. Held during winters, Gangasagar Mela attracts thousands of pilgrims where they take a holy dip in the river Ganges.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today held a meeting to discuss the arrangements made for the Gangasagar Mela and directed the authorities to strictly follow the Covid-19 instructions.
