Chhello Show is India's official entry to the Oscars 2023. FWICE raised multiple concerns over the film's selection.
It was recently announced that the Gujarati film Chhello Show was selected as India's official entry to the Oscars 2023. After an official announcement was made, FFI [Film Federation of India] received a lot of backlash after it snubbed RRR and selected Chhello Show as India's official entry to the Oscars 2023. Now, FWICE [The Federation of Western India Cine Employees] has raised multiple concerns against the film's Oscar selection. Director Pan Nalin has also reacted to one of the allegations against his movie.
FWICE issued an official statement, in which it raised multiple concerns over the Oscar selection of Chhello Show, or Last Show in English.
A part of the statement read, "This year’s nomination of the film ‘Chhello Show’ as India’s Official Entry to the 95th Oscar Award is not as per the usual norms and has therefore created a lot of doubts and issues we thought of raising. We strongly feel that the selection process was not thoroughly followed. We have nothing against the producers and makers of the film which has been nominated, but at the same time, the real successors of this award cannot be left in a dilemma."

In an exclusive conversation with IndiaToday.in, Dipen Raval opened up about Chhello Show's Oscar selection. "This is the first Gujarati movie for an Oscar. Our country has never won Oscar Awards. I am very hopeful that this time our Gujarati movie will win the country's first Oscar Award and make our country proud," he said.
He further spoke about the difficulties faced during the film's shoot. "We faced difficulties while shooting. The entire film was shot in Gujarat's Amreli, Dhari. On our set, there was a time when lions had entered. We shot in heavy rain as well, but enjoyed it a lot. It is a kind of autobiography itself," he added.
