On Tuesday, February 22, the Karnataka Assembly passed the Karnataka Legislature salaries, pensions and allowances Amendment Bill 2022 on Tuesday, February 22. The Bill aims to increase the salaries and allowance of the Chief Minister, ministers, MLAs & MLCs, Assembly speaker, Legislative Council Chairman and the leader of the Opposition.
According to the Amendments to the Karnataka ministers salaries and allowances Act 1956, the proposed increases will result in an additional expense of Rs 25.40 crore. i
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said, "It's done once in five years. A lot of discussion on the bill happened earlier too. This was discussed in the last two sessions also. This time, it is on, since the budget allows it. This is not the first time that this has been discussed."
