From tragedy to triumph, Shruti embarks on a new journey

S. Shruti, who lost her family in landslides, finds hope with new government job in Wayanad.
In a poignant turn of events, S. Shruti, who lost nine of her relatives, including her parents and sibling, in the June 30 landslides in Chooralmala in Wayanad, has begun a new chapter of hope.
On Monday, she was appointed a clerk in the Revenue department’s Public Grievance Redressal Cell at the Wayanad Collectorate.
The Kerala government recently decided to provide Shruti, who has faced a series of devastating tragedies, with a government job. Local political leaders accompanied her as she stepped into her new role.
Speaking to reporters, Ms. Shruti expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the government and all those who stood by her during the darkest days of her life. “I am not naming anyone specifically. Everyone supported me thoroughly. I am sincerely thankful,” she said.
A road accident had claimed the life of her fiancé, Jenson, who had been her steadfast support following the loss of her family in the landslides. The couple had got engaged on June 2. Despite suffering health challenges from the injuries she sustained in the accident that claimed Jenson’s life, Shruti is determined to continue her work.
The landslides on July 30 devastated the Chooralmala and Mundakkai villages in Meppadi grama panchayat in Wayanad, claiming the lives of Ms. Shruti’s family of nine. She also suffered significant financial setbacks in the landslides, losing approximately ₹4 lakh in cash, around 15 sovereigns of gold, and her newly constructed home.
