The Purvanchal Expressway will connect the state capital Lucknow with the eastern districts including Mau, Azamgarh, Barabanki with the major cities of Prayagraj and Varanasi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Puravanchal Expressway on Tuesday which he said will "bring with it multiple benefits for UP’s economic and social progress.” The 341-kilometre-long expressway will reduce the travel time between Lucknow to Buxar in Bihar from seven hours to nearly four hours.
The inauguration will be marked by the prime minister landing on the expressway in the Indian Air Force’s C-130J Super Hercules transport aircraft demonstrating the highway's capability to land aircraft in emergency situations.
