From Dhak to Garba, Mamata kicks off Durga Puja festivities in Kolkata

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee kicked off the Durga Puja celebrations in Kolkata by trying her hands on garba and playing a dhak at a pandal.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was seen in a festive spirit as she kicked off the Durga Puja festivities in Kolkata. From trying her hands on garba to playing dhak, Mamata Banerjee has surprised everyone after her videos went viral on social media.
The TMC supremo was seen trying her hands at dandia (garba) on Wednesday while inaugurating TMC councillor Ashim Bose’s Durga Puja in Bhawanipore.
On Wednesday, Mamata Banerjee also played dhak, a traditional drum-like instrument, at the inauguration of Suruchi Sangha Puja Pandal in Alipore. She was accompanied by Cabinet colleagues Firhad Hakim and Aroop Biswas. In a viral video, Bengal CM can be seen cutting a ribbon and walking into the pandal with a dhak slung around her shoulder and playing it. As Mamata Banerjee played the dhak on the floor, Firhad Hakim also joined her.

Banerjee began the festivities on Mahalaya by debuting as a singer in her latest album of special songs titled 'Utsaver Gaan'. The song 'Dhak dumadum' has been sung by the chief minister along with singer-turned politician Indranil Sen and Aditi Munshi.
