In Jharkhand's capital city Ranchi, Friday prayers took place peacefully amidst tight security.
Friday prayers were offered peacefully in Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi on June 17 amidst tight security. Security forces were deployed at mosques and their adjoining areas to keep strict vigil and maintain peace.
Following the violence that broke out after Friday prayers in the previous week, strict instructions were given to the police forces to maintain law and order during this week’s prayers. Police were instructed to take strict action against violators of any kind.
Drone cameras installed in sensitive areas of the city were being monitored by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP). On top of that, social media was also being monitored to ensure that any ‘anti-social elements’ do not disturb the peace in the city. Barricades were placed around 75 religious places.
There were no reports of violence or unwanted incidents in other districts of the state as Friday prayers were offered peacefully.
The police administration also sought cooperation from the religious leaders to maintain peace and tranquillity. On Thursday, Muslim clerics and religious leaders called on the community to maintain peace and requested the people not to pay heed to any rumours.
The police have said they will take strict action on anyone posting any inflammatory post on social media.
