A Hindu outfit has filed a police complaint against TMC MP Mahua Moitra in Kolkata over her remarks on goddess Kali.
A fresh police complaint has been lodged against Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra for her remarks on goddess Kali. This time a police complaint was filed by a Hindu rights organisation called Singha Bahini at Amherst Street police station on Tuesday Morning.
Debdutta Majhi, the president of Singha Bahini said, “Mahua Moitra has hurt the religious sentiment of Hindus. We decided to lodge a complaint against her at the police station. Police should take immediate action against Mahua Moitra."
Meanwhile, the BJP continued to mount pressure on Moitra over her comments on goddess Kali. On Monday, Leader of Opposition in Bengal, Subhendu Adhikari, took out a protest march against Moitra in Krishnanagar.

"If police do not take any action against Mahua in 10 days we will take this up to court," he said during an address at Moitra's constituency.
On Tuesday, Singha Bahini supported the decision taken by the BJP to fight a legal battle against Moitra until she gets arrested.
Mahua Moitra had said that Kali, for her, was a meat-eating, alcohol-accepting goddess. Her remarks came during the India Today Conclave East 2022 on July 5 in response to a controversy over a movie poster showing goddess Kali smoking a cigarette and holding an LGBTQ flag.
