CBC
A freezing rain warning is in effect for Waterloo region, Guelph and southern Wellington County, along with other parts of southern Ontario.
Northern Wellington County was under a weather advisory for a wintry mix of precipitation throughout the day.
It led the Upper Grand District School Board and the Wellington Catholic District School Board to close schools on Monday and shift to a remote learning day.
School buses in Waterloo region were delayed 10 to 20 minutes.
The freezing rain warning from Environment Canada said the rain could be mixed with ice pellets and up to 4 mm could accumulate in some areas.
"The freezing rain is expected to transition to snow, possibly mixed with ice pellets, around midday," the warning said.
It could make roads, sidewalks and other surfaces slippery and people walking, cycling and driving should be aware of that, the warning noted.
The temperature was expected to remain steady at –1 C Monday.
