Two people were found dead at an apartment complex in Fredericton on Saturday, Fredericton police say.
In an update Sunday, Fredericton Police Chief Martin Gaudet told reporters that the deceased are originally from Russia, but have lived in Fredericton for about 16 years.
Gaudet also said they are working with Interpol and the RCMP to notify the family of the individuals.
He would not reveal the cause of death of either individual and said the matter remains under investigation.
Previously, police said they responded at approximately 11 a.m. Saturday to an address on Forest Hill Road, where two people were found dead.
Gaudet confirmed Sunday that the two people were found at the complex located at 94 Forest Hill Road.
According to Gaudet, the incident happened in the apartment. He said police are not searching for a suspect and said there is no risk to public safety.
"It's not suspicious in that sense," Gaudet said when asked whether it was being considered a homicide. "It's a double fatality."
