The injured tusker from the Coimbatore circle had entered the Mudumalai circle with a large gash on its back which had almost severed its tail. The elephant was in no condition to be tranquilized. Therefore, four tuskers were brought in to control the elephant.
Forest officials and four trained tuskers called Kumkis battled for hours to capture an injured wild elephant. The injured tusker from the Coimbatore circle had entered the Mudumalai circle with a large gash on its back which had almost severed its tail. The elephant was suffering for more than two years. Wildlife officials tried treating the wound by giving medicine along with fruits, but that didn't work. Any medicine placed on the wound didn’t stick. A week ago, the elephant had entered a water body, which is a sign that something was seriously wrong with its health. It was then that the wildlife activists sought immediate intervention from the State Government.More Related News
