Former Union minister Anand Sharma has resigned from the post of the chairman of the steering committee of the Himachal Pradesh Congress.

Sources said that in a letter to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, Anand Sharma said that his "self-respect is non-negotiable"
The development in Congress comes just five days after a similar move by senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad. Azad on August 16 resigned from the post of the head of the Jammu and Kashmir Congress campaign committee hours after his appointment.
