Former India opener Shiv Sunder Das has been appointed as the batting coach of the senior India women's cricket team. He will be joining the Ramesh Powar-led support staff for the England tour in June. Meanwhile, Abhay Sharma, former Delhi wicketkeeper, has been named as the fielding coach of the women's side. Shiv Sunder Das played 23 Tests for India between 2000 and 2002. Das, a solid specialist opener for India in Tests, hit 1326 runs, including 2 hundred. Das has a rich experience of playing in England as he had featured in Divison One during his heydays. The experience will certainly come in handy when he takes over the batting coaching duties for India women who will be played a Test, 3 ODIs and as many T20Is in England between June 16 and July 15. India named their Test, ODI and T20I squads for the tour last week. Mithali Raj will lead the Test and the ODI side while Harmanpreet Kaur will skipper the team in the shortest format of the game. India are expected to leave for England in the first week of June after completing a quarantine period in Mumbai.More Related News
