Former Punjab minister Razia Sultana issued recovery notice for missing valuables

The PWD on Thursday issued a recovery notice to a former Punjab Cabinet minister and asked her to either deposit a sum of Rs 5,66,959 or return the missing valuables.
Former Punjab Cabinet Minister Razia Sultana on Monday was issued a recovery notice by the Public Works Department.
Sultana is the third former minister to be issued a recovery notice. The PWD had earlier issued similar notices to former cabinet ministers Manpreet Singh Badal and Gurpreet Singh Kangar, who headed the finance and revenue departments respectively.
The Public Works Department in the recovery notice has asked the Congress leader to deposit a total sum of Rs 5,66,959 by way of a check or a demand draft or alternatively has been asked to return the missing valuables.
The missing valuables include a 670 Ltr refrigerator worth Rs 86,550, three LED televisions worth Rs 4,28, 820 and three oil-filled radiator heaters worth Rs 51,480.
Razia Sultana,who was a cabinet minister during the tenure of both Captain Amarinder Singh and Charanjit Singh Channi, has clarified that all the valuables are at one of her residences and the department can get back the same.
Badal had paid Rs 1.84 lacs for a dining table,10 dining table chairs, one service trolley and a recliner sofa which he took away with him while vacating the government house.
The then revenue minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar was also served a recovery notice after valuables worth Rs 4.86 lacs were found missing from the house which he vacated last month.
