On Sunday, former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh rubbished claims that he would soon be meeting the Congress party's interim president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi with the intent of returning to the party. The claims were made by a minister in the Punjab government.

Amarinder Singh said, "These are malicious and mischievous assumptions apparently made with an ulterior motive." He also reiterated that there was no question of him ever looking back.
