Former New Mexico college football player faces possible life in prison after drug trafficking conviction

Rayshawn Boyce, 29, a former football player at the University of New Mexico, could be sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of smuggling drugs while incarcerated.

Boyce was convicted last year in federal court of robbing a postal worker at gunpoint. He was also convicted on charges of stealing an arrow key, a universal key used by postal workers to access mailboxes and prohibited person in possession of a firearm. The armed robbery occurred in 2022. He grew up in Rhode Island and is a graduate of Elon University.
