Omar Ayub Khan, a former economic affairs minister, was injured amid violent protests by Imran Khan supporters who are demanding fresh elections in Pakistan.
Former Pakistan Minister of Economic Affairs Omar Ayub Khan was injured in a police crackdown on protesters during the agitation against the government on Wednesday, May 26.
The 'long march' or agitation was called by Imran Khan, who was ousted as the Prime Minister of Pakistan in April. Khan had urged his supporters to gather at Islamabad’s D-Chowk for a ‘peaceful’ protest rally to demand fresh elections.
His call for the protest came after Pakistan's Supreme Court directed authorities to allow the protest rally in the national capital and restrained them from arresting the cricketer-turned-politician. Omar Ayub Khan, a minister in the Imran Khan government, was part of a rally in Punjab district.
