As many schools, colleges and institutions of higher learning remained closed owing to COVID-19, Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah opposed implementation of New Education Policy 2020 without discussions among academicians, experts and members of the State Legislature. Education is included in the Concurrent List of the Constitution and States have equal right on deciding the education policy. The Centre should refrain from imposing the new policy on States without discussion in Parliament and State legislatures, the former chief minister of Karnataka said.
