Former captain Faf du Plessis misses out on central contract with Cricket South Africa
India Today
Former Test captain Faf du Plessis, who announced his red-ball retirement last month, has faced a snub from Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) central contract while Heinrich Klaasen has been added to the list.
Faf du Plessis’ snub from Cricket South Africa’s central contract list doesn’t come as a surprise as the former captain announced his retirement from Test cricket last month. While du Plessis will be allowed to participate in all global T20 leagues, he will also be available for inclusion in ICC tournaments for South Africa. "My hear is clear and time is right to walk into a new chapter," he wrote in his retirement post. The 36-year-old played 69 Test matches for his country and scored over 4,000 runs in the format. Faf du Plessis made his Test debut in November 2012 against Australia in Adelaide. His last match in the longest format of the game was against Pakistan in Rawalpindi. CSA released its central contract list for the upcoming season on Tuesday with the exclusion of du Plessis and the addition of wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen.More Related News
