Former BJP leader Narayan Singh Bhadauria has been arrested again in connection with the Jajmau tannery violence in Kanpur.
Former BJP leader Narayan Singh Bhadauria, who was earlier jailed for helping a criminal escape from police custody, has been arrested again in connection with the Jajmau tannery violence in Kanpur.
Narayan Bhadauria is alleged to be the main facilitator of the tannery violence, in which two factions fought each other, leading to a breakdown of law and order in the area. Police arrested Bhadauria on the basis of footage that shows him at the scene of the crime, along with his accomplices.
Narayan Singh Bhadauria is accused of grabbing land worth crores.
Bhadauria, along with his supporters, had earlier helped history-sheeter Manoj Singh escape police custody last year.
As soon as the incident came to light, he was expelled from the BJP and arrested by the Kanpur Police. He later secured bail.
Cantt ACP Mrigank Pathak said, “On July 13, there was a dispute between two parties regarding the possession of a tannery. An FIR was registered in this matter and six people were arrested. On the basis of the CCTV footage, another accused [Bhadauria] was arrested on Saturday.”
