
Former Bengal chief secy Alapan Bandyopadhyay gets 30 days to explain failure to report to Delhi

The Centre has given former West Bengal chief secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay 30 days to explain his failure to report to North Block in New Delhi on May 31 of this year.
The central government has shot off a stern letter to former West Bengal chief secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay. In the letter, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) told the retired IAS officer that proceedings are being initiated against him for failing to report to New Delhi on May 31. Alapan Bandyopadhyay, who is now a special advisor to West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, has been asked to respond to the letter in 30 days. The DoPT has asked Bandyopadhyay to present his side of the story or face the consequences. Bandopadhyay, a 1987-cadre IAS officer, was set to retire on May 31. Citing his role in Covid-19 management, the West Bengal government urged the Centre to extend his tenure. The central government accepted the request.More Related News
