Certain Ford, Acura and Land Rover models have been recalled in Canada over a variety of issues that pose a risk to drivers’ safety.
Ford Canada issued a recall for four 2024 models, warning of issues on vehicles with 3.5-litre turbo engines that can increase the risk of a crash or fire.
“The rear engine cup plug may not have been installed properly,” the company said in a recall posted by Transport Canada last week. “As a result, engine oil could leak and cause a loss of power to the wheels.”
This loss of power could increase the risk of crash, the notice warned. Additionally, the oil leak could lead to fire or create other hazards.
The recall applies to the Ford F-150, F-150 (police interceptor truck), Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator.
Ford said owners will be notified by mail, and will be told to take their vehicle to a dealership for inspection and replacement if needed. This recall was initially issued in November, but updated on Dec. 23.
While the F-150 is regularly one of Canada’s most purchased vehicles, this recall is estimated to impact only about 340 trucks and SUVs.
