For missing trucker's children, waiting for answers is getting harder as each day goes by

The family of 51-year-old Brian Lush is still waiting for answers. 

They're gathered in their Stephenville, N.L., home waiting for the next phone call and any update from the Ontario Provincial Police about where he might be.

Lush, a commercial truck driver, disappeared over a week ago. He was last seen at a gas station in Summerstown, a community in southern Ontario near the Vermont border, around 4:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday.

His transport truck was parked outside, unlocked. His personal belongings were still inside, along with the keys and his phone.

Chloe White, Lush's daughter, told CBC News the family is holding on — but's getting harder.

"You never expect this to happen. It's like a nightmare," she said.

"We have been in contact with one officer. Pretty much, like three times a day, he would give us a call but now we narrowed it down to him just going through one family member as it's getting [to be] a lot because our hopes are up when it comes late at night, and sometimes it's just nothing."

The OPP told CBC News on Tuesday there have been potential sightings, but they're mostly partial matches of Lush's clothing along the 401 Highway and on a trail. 

He was headed east to Nova Scotia, then planned to take the ferry home to Newfoundland.

Jake White, Lush's son, said his father didn't want to go on the trip. He said Lush wanted to stay home with his family. Chloe and Jake's mom is sick, and Lush's own mother died recently, he said.

"It's good to be home with the family," said White. 

"Our house is always full. There's so many people up here, there's so much support, which we're unbelievably grateful for."

Brian Lush is described as 5'10" with a medium build, 200 lb., brown eyes and short brown hair. He was last seen wearing a blue hoodie, jeans and possibly a ball cap. 

The OPP is asking hunters or others with trail cameras in the South Glengarry, South Stormont and Cornwall areas to check for any possible sightings. The police force is also asking for dashcam video from Highway 401 westbound, in the Boundary Road area near Cornwall, from Thursday between 10:30 a.m. ET and noon.
