For a long time, representing Australia looked unlikely: Singapore-born Tim David talks about selection

Singapore-born cricketer Tim David has been called up in the Australian T20 World Cup squad. David reacts to the news, stating that it feels really rewarding.
Singapore-born Tim David has been selected in the T20 World Cup squad by Australia for the tournament which is scheduled to be held in the months of October and November. David, renowned for his ball striking ability across the world, has been in the contention for a call-up over the last six months or a year, however, has always been snubbed for players who hold some form of contract in the Australian cricket system.
Reacting to the news, David said that for a long time he felt that an Australia call-up was unlikely.
“I think for a long time (representing Australia) looked unlikely, but I don't think that I wouldn't have ever imagined it. It's something that you still always want to strive for, and I guess it feels really rewarding for myself and I guess for my family and my support network to be able to get that call and share it with them,” David told cricket.com.au
Talking about his finishing prowess in the T20 game, David stated that the circumstances in his life led him to acquire T20 skills, but that has not been his sole focus.
“T20 has not become a sole focus, but it's just evolved naturally that way. My first opportunity after being released by Western Australia was to go play for Singapore. So, I went, did that, then came back and had an opportunity to get to the Hurricanes. So from there, the only thing I was going to do in playing professional cricket was play T20 cricket,” David said.
