A Florida sheriff's deputy was killed and two other deputies were wounded while attempting to reach the first officer in what authorities called an ambush shooting inside a home.
The three deputies were shot at a house in Eustis, Florida, on Friday night, Lake County Sheriff Peyton Grinnell said during a news conference at the scene.
Two suspects were killed and a third was wounded when authorities stormed the home in an attempt to retrieve a deputy who had been shot and was trapped inside, Grinnell said.
An American Airlines jet with 60 passengers and four crew members aboard collided with an Army helicopter Wednesday night while coming in for a landing at Ronald Reagan National Airport near Washington. The Black Hawk helicopter was carrying a crew of three. Officials said early Thursday that everyone on board both aircraft is believed dead, which would make it the deadliest U.S. air crash in nearly a quarter century.
