Michael Millett, 8, died after two dogs bit him 12 times after he stopped to pet them while riding his bike in his neighborhood, according to Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood.
"It goes from petting, and a very friendly encounter, to the dogs becoming very, very, very vicious and very violent," Chitwood said in a news conference on Tuesday.
Millett was bitten 12 times by the two dogs, which have been identified as a Pit Bull Terrier and possibly a Catahoula, or some other herding breed.
Police in Oregon say they have human remains believed to be of a man missing from 2022, and a suspect. Murphy Calvin Henry II, 54, is in custody.
