A five-year-old boy died after an auto overturned in Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi.
A five-year-old died after an auto, carrying eight school children, overturned in Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi. Several others were injured in the incident.
The deceased was identified as Selva Naveen. The police have sent Naveen's body for autopsy and registered a case against the auto driver for negligence.
The initial investigation revealed that the auto driver identified as Saravanan had assigned another person to drive the auto, while he was on another school bus duty.
The police were also informed that the driver was speaking on the phone while driving. At one point, the mobile slipped off his hand and as he tried to grab it, lost control of the vehicle, leading to the accident that claimed one life.
Further investigation is underway.
