Five people of a family were killed in a house fire in Kerala’s Varkala on Tuesday, March 8. The family’s home in Dalavapuram caught on fire around 1.45 am on Tuesday.
Five people of a family were killed in a house fire in Kerala’s Varkala on Tuesday, March 8. The family’s home in Dalavapuram caught on fire around 1.45 am on Tuesday.
The deceased are Prathapan (62), Sherly (53), Abhirami (25), Akhil (29) and Riyan, Abhirami's eight-month-old son. Prathapan was a vegetable vendor and has been doing business here for a while.
Prathapan's eldest son, Nihul, who sustained major injuries, is now undergoing treatment. The neighbours alerted the fire brigade as soon as they spotted the fire. At least five bikes were destroyed and the air conditioners in the house were also destroyed.
The officials said that no conclusions could be made for now. Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) Divya Gopinath said that all angles will be probed after forensic experts examine the place.
