Policemen opened one round of fire in the air to stop two groups of rival fishermen from fighting with one another at a place near Veerampattinam in Puducherry on Saturday. The villagers of Veerampatinam and Nallavadu have had a longstanding dispute with each other over the use of purse seine net and the fishing area in the sea. The situation turned violent on Saturday when mid-sea fishermen from both the villages resorted to violence.More Related News
