Doha: The Fire Station has announced the sixth edition of its Artist in Residence programme (AIR 6). The nine-month residency programme, running until June 15, 2022, provides an opportunity for artists residing in Qatar to develop their creative practice through mentorship, working with curators, open studios, and access to the building’s facilities, including a fabrication lab and exhibition spaces.
During the residency, the Fire Station will host two open studio events, one in the fall and another in the spring. The Open Studio Night is an event where members of the public are given access to the Fire Station studios to meet the artists, view their artworks, and learn more about the current projects of the Artists in Residence programme.
The residency programme includes networking events for participating artists, such as workshops and weekly artists’ gatherings held in the studios. In addition, the artists will have the opportunity to meet curators, visiting artists, and museum professionals in one-on-one studio visits to view and critique their projects.
