"Toronto Pearson is aware of an active fire located off airport property," the airport wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter. "Aircrafts are continuing to land and depart safely."
Mississauga Fire says crews are on the scene at 1787 Drew Road for a single-story commercial property fire. Heavy smoke billowed from the building upon arrival, they add.
"We commenced an offensive attack. Initially we had to withdraw our crews as the building started to collapse," Deputy Fire Chief Rob Grimwood told CP24 on the scene, adding the building has collapsed significantly.
"We're in the process of protecting the neighbouring buildings."
Peel Police say there are no reported injuries.
The fire chief says crews will likely be on the scene for several hours.
