India Today
Maharashtra cabinet ministers have raised concerns over FIRs being registered against ministers. Two Congress ministers were recently booked for brandishing swords at a public event.
Cabinet ministers on Thursday expressed concern to Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil, over FIR being registered against ministers Aslam Shaikh and Varsha Gaikwad.
An FIR was registered on Monday against Shaikh and Gaikwad for brandishing swords at a public event to welcome the chairman of Congress' Minority Department Imran Pratapgarhi.
Pratapgarhi was in Mumbai last Sunday to participate in a review meeting of the Maharashtra Congress' minority cell.

Sources said that ministers expressed concerns that the police was registering cases against its own ministers. Following this, the chief secretary was asked to investigate and report on under what circumstances the case was registered. The case has been registered under Arms Act at Bandra Police Station in Mumbai.
