Fentanyl seizures increase again at southern border, now 78% higher than last fiscal year

The amount of fentanyl seized at the border by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) increased again in June as part of a continued surge in seizures of the deadly drug.
It means that so far in FY2021, with three months remaining, there have been 8,507 pounds of the drug seized, compared to 4,776 in all of FY 2020. Fentanyl, an opioid for pain treatment, is between 50 and 100 times more potent than morphine. According to the CDC, more than 36,000 people died from overdoses involving synthetic opioids like fentanyl in 2019.More Related News
