Father-daughter duo fundraising for local food bank with special concert

Kitchener's Katy Topham and her dad, Jamie Warren, are putting on a special concert later this month, where they'll raise food and funds for The Food Bank of Waterloo Region.
"For me, Christmas has always been about making sure to give to somebody who doesn't have much," Topham told CBC KW's The Morning Edition on Friday.
"Growing up in the school that I did in St. Agatha, we had a lot of charitable events around Christmas time every year."
Topham said she remembers helping her mom one year support a neighbour in their community who didn't have a lot of food around Christmas.
"That always stuck out to me," she said.
Topham said she's worked on different events in support of the food bank through different jobs she's had and has also organized food drives in the past to support the organization.
"They're a great organization and especially as a parent, you want to make sure people can feed their kids," she said.
Warren said giving back to the community should be done year-round, but Christmas is a good time to "invite people to have a meal."
"The food bank, that's what they are, that's what they do year-round. I love Christmas for that very reason. It's the giving," he said.
The concert will be held at KW Little Theatre on Dec.17 at 7:30 p.m.
